Last week our counseling team organized and hosted a Mental Health Panel. We are so grateful to the counselors from each division who make advocating for student mental health a priority. Facilitating conversations for our own families by bringing in some of the area's leading experts on the topic is going to make for a healthier future for all of our Spartans!

On Wednesday our middle school students participated in their annual Community Impact Day. Through the Institute for Community Impact, each grade level educates themselves and invests in a community theme throughout the year. The 5th grade focuses on homelessness, the 6th grade focuses on immigrants and refugees, the 7th grade focues on veterans, and the 8th Grade focuses on poverty. These special community impact days are dedicated to learning from local nonprofit leaders, serving the community we love, and working to make a difference. #CultivatingCuriousSpartans #CultivatingCARINGSpartans #SpartansLoveWICHITA

We walked around bright and early before classes started for the day! As always, our campus was bustling well ahead of the first bells ringing, with our middle and upper school students in tutorials, lower school students greeting their classmates and doing Green Team work, and early childhood students putting away their things and heading to their meeting rooms before being picked up by teachers! Seeing how responsible the kids are from the moment they step on to campus always impresses us! #WCSWalkaroundWednesday #CultivatingCuriousSpartans #SpartansThriveTogether #WalkaroundWednesday

Last week a group of Great Beginnings students got to visit Mrs. Zarei’s Kindergarten room for some cross-level learning! The kindergartners loved the opportunity to be mentors to their young friends, and our Great Beginnings students expanded their horizons in a new environment. They focused on art, fine motor skills, and ended the lesson with a yoga exercise in emotional regulation. What a great day! #CultivatingCuriousSpartans #SpartansThriveTogether #SixtyYearsofSpartans

The Shoaf Lower School was filled with famous faces last night for the annual Wax Museum. With the addition of a fun concert, the night was dynamic from start to finish. From researching and writing their paper to crafting their speeches, the pride these kids felt after seeing their hard work come to fruition was palpable. There is no doubt their futures are bright! Who knows...maybe someday a future Spartan 3rd grader will be dressed up as one of THEM! #CultivatingCuriousSpartans #SpartansThriveTogether #SixtyYearsofSpartans #FutureChangeMakers

Our swimmers took 2nd at STATE!!!! In a stacked state meet where all schools in the 5A-1A classes compete against each other, our Spartans shined. Not only did the team finish as the state runner up, we had multiple swimmers nab idividual honors, including Derek Yang being awarded Athlete of the Meet! Both Derek Yang and Nathan Lynch were named First-Team All State and Luke Cremin, Harry Ling, and Paul Mines were named Second-Team All State. We are also excited to announce that Coach Kamren Hall was named Coach of the Year! We clinched titles in four events, including the 200 Medley Relay (Karim Sandid, Nathan Lynch, Derek Yang, and Paul Mines), 50 Yard Free (Derek Yang), 100 Yard Butterfly (Derek Yang), 100 Yard Breaststroke (Nathan Lynch), along with many other impressive finishes. Way to go, Spartans! #WCSSpartanAthletics

This morning we welcomed James Chung, WCS Class of 1984, as our Mentor Day breakfast speaker. Mr. Chung, founder of Reach Advisors and co-founder of StratoDem Analytics, gave an inspiring talk to our seniors. He shared four pieces of advice that will benefit them as they head off to college. While there were many wonderful takeaways, two stood out to us. First, he charged our seniors to remember to "send the ladder back down." Mentorship is important as a student and rising professional, but it is just as important once you have climbed the ladder to the top. Remembering to "send the ladder back down," is a vital part of the process, offering similar opportunities to others as a way of paying it forward. And in his final remarks he reminded the Class of 2024 that "the environment they are in right now is special. Don't forget to bring others along." Mr. Chung, thank you for your words of wisdom. We are certain our students left inspired not only to go seek out their own opportunities, but to bring others along on their journeys to success! #WCSMentorDay #SixtyYearsofSpartans #SpartansThriveTogether #CultivatingCuriousSpartans

We always encourage our students to dream big and with this particular project it has been so fun to see them put those dreams on display! The 1st and 2nd graders have spent their Fridays over the past two months working on this exciting Dream School project in their science and technology classes. From the initial brainstorming phase to actually bringing their ideas to life in the engineering and building process, we have loved seeing how each class creatively collaborated. Maybe the most heartwarming part is that as big as they dreamed (one school even had a vet clinic on campus!) they also clearly love where they are. Each dream school has bits and pieces of Wichita Collegiate inspiration built right in and we feel so honored to be a small part of some of their biggest dreams! 💛💙 #CultivatingCuriousSpartans #CultivatingCollaborativeSpartans #SpartansThriveTogether #SpartansDreamBig

We have some new STATE CHAMPIONS in the building!!! In the 2-Speaker tournament, all four WCS teams advanced to quarterfinals for the third straight year. In addition to that, our 4-Speaker team of Charlie Gentile, Hayan Raffi, Colton Jenkins, Cooper Miller and alternate Max Timsah took 3rd place in the 4-Speaker tournament, compiling an 8-6 record and battling a tough field to come out in 3rd place at the end of the weekend.
